Rich in history, in 1871, John Henry Brock purchased this land in the southwestern part of Parker County. He and another business man, James Maddux, started this town by building a gin and mill. Because of John Brooks trade as a carpenter and cabinetmaker, he built a number of early community buildings. In the late 1800’s the town boasted of a post office (named after John himself), a blacksmith shop, cotton gin, gristmill, grocery store, post office, flour mill and two schools- the local community school and the Olive Branch Collegiate Institute.
